Course Description

What are diversity issues in today's world? How do they impact our perspectives, our communication, our relationships, our value systems, our ethical practice, our classrooms and workplaces? How do we find the balance in supporting the richness of diversity and maintaining our own sense of self? Join us to explore the interlocking issues of diversity as they shape educational and management practices in the workplace and community.

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a personal and professional awareness (personal assumptions and biases) of diversity and culture in adult learning;
  • Explain and support the relationships between culture and motivation to learn;
  • Describe the importance of culturally responsive facilitation in formal and workplace settings;
  • View the practice of facilitation through a multicultural lens
  • Explore and implement facilitation strategies to establish inclusion in adult learning environments.

Notes

Students should expect to spend five to seven hours on coursework each week.
