ART 108 Explorations with Watercolour

Course Description

Learn fundamentals of traditional watercolour painting as well as experimental approaches to this exciting medium. Investigate transparent watercolour and watermedia techniques, various paper types, techniques of flat and graded washes (wet into wet and dry brush), sketching and attitudes towards composition. Brush handling, colour enrichment and the painting process are emphasized. Still-life, figure, abstract and landscape works are explored. Individual development is encouraged through critiques, one-on-one guidance, demonstrations, and reference to historical and modern practices in watercolour.
