Joanna Chang is a life-time member of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching. She has been teaching Mandarin and Chinese culture to Canadian corporations for many years. At the University of Calgary, Joanna has taught at the Department of Germanic, Slavic, & East Asian Studies, and she has been teaching for the Continuing Education department for more than twenty years now.
Prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she organized and taught an Olympic-themed Mandarin course co-sponsored by the University of Calgary, RBC Financial Group, and the Chinese Language Council International of China. The course was repeated seven times at Bankers Hall over a two-year period.
Joanna’s teaching and papers on Mandarin teaching have received consecutive awards at the 9th, 10th, and 11th International Conference on Chinese Language Teaching: an Innovative Teaching Award (Beijing 2008), an Innovative Paper Award (Shenyang 2009), and an Innovative Paper Excellence Award (Xi’an 2012).
