HUM 201 Comparative Religion

Course Description

Survey world religions including Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Taoism. Compare rituals, doctrines, institutions, ethics and followers' understanding of religious experience. Look at the respective pillars of faith and discover what is common in all confessions, as well as how and why they differ.

Course Details

This course will investigate fundamental concepts such as the soul and salvation, revelation and spirituality, prayer and meditation, karma and sansara, nirvana and wu-wei. The influence of religious beliefs on major world cultures will also be looked at.
