FIF 101 North Africa: From Libya To Morocco: History, Peoples, Places And Thin

Course Description

The fermet of 7th century Islam changed the map, but the links continued; while deep in the desert, the independent Berber kingdoms thrived. We'll trace that colourful history from Carthage to the present, and provide snapshots of a a range of North African communities in terms of their lifeways, arts, weaving, pottery, music, and fine jewellery. Peoples covered will include the Tuareg of the central Sahara, the isoloated Mzab in the oases of the northern Sahara, and the Kabyle mountain farmers of Coastal Algeria.
