BMC 118 Project Management: The Basics

Course Description

Have you been asked to lead a task force, manage a project or chair an ad hoc committee? This overview course covers all the fundamental project management processes and knowledge areas as documented in the PMBOK® Guide. The instructional formats include learning activities, group work, and a final assignment, all providing opportunities to apply new methods and skills. The classroom section focuses on scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement management.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Develop a Work Breakdown Structure and Scope Statement
  • Correlate Project Scope and Activity Definition
  • Develop a Schedule
  • Create Scope, Time, and Cost Baselines
  • Create a Risk Register
  • Understand basic Quality, and Procurement concepts
  • Be able to implement some basic mechanical skills associated with Human Resource and Communication Management
