INT 119 Textile Exploration for Art and Design

Course Description

Through images, lectures and special hands-on projects, creatively explore and learn about the world of textiles and fabrics. Increase your knowledge and experience of fabrics and textiles and become more comfortable using them in interior design, fashion and other artistic expressions. Look at fabric trends, patterns, and colours and analyze the four natural fibre groups, their desired characteristics and limitations. Study different weaves and discuss how some unusual fabrics are produced and treated. 

Course Details

This course is intended for those who have a love of fibres and fabrics, and who are interested in understanding and working creatively with them. Examples of fabrics will be brought to class so the "hand" of the fabric may be experienced. A glossary of terms will be provided and discussed so the appropriate terms may be used in discussions.
