HUM 128 The Beatles




Course Description

In this multi-media interactive course, examine the music and lyrics of the Beatles within an historical context, analyzing their cultural impact from the 1960s to the present. Listen to various albums and discuss the impact of the Beatles' music and songs. Gain—or regain—an appreciation for the Beatles as musicians, composers, and iconic figures of our times. 

Course Details

Class discussion will include various aspects of the Beatles' careers, including: Why were they so dearly loved? Why did they break up? What role did drugs, the cold war, the sexual revolution, contact with eastern religious traditions, and the civil rights movement have on the Beatles' music and how did this, in turn, affect the broader culture? How exactly did Yoko and Linda affect the group?
