Course Description

Explore the fascinating evolution of three of the earliest ancient civilizations representing many of the highest points of intellectual, technological and artistic development in the world : the Sumerians, the Akkadians and the Babylonians (from ca. 3400 BC down to ca. 1000 BC, when the Assyrians rose to power). See how each successive civilization responded to and incorporated external cultural influences, including those of the ancient Egyptians, the Harappans of the Indus Valley, as well as the commercial influence of ancient Dilmun. You will explore how each of these three empires arose, witness their achievements and follow their decline and fall.
