LAN 110 Gardens and Art

Course Description

Time travel through ancient and modern gardens through the world of art. Paintings, sculpture, frescoes, textiles, ceramics, architecture, and photographs  will offer insight into the pleasures, ideals, social history and practicalities of gardens. Join the lively sessions that will awaken your gardening senses through visuals, music, and poetry. See and analyze ancient gardens of Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persia, Islamic countries through Medieval sacred and secular gardens up to modern gardens from various countries. Gain insight into unique gardens such as the  Moonlight Garden of the Taj Mahal.
