HUM 544 A Stroll With Socrates and Friends: What The 'Ancients' Have to Say About Today's Issues

Course Description

Western philosophy begins with the ancient Greeks. And that is where this philosophical journey begins as we attempt to answer some of life’s ultimate questions in companionship with Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Learn from the remarkable life and death of Socrates as memorialized by Plato, as well as some of the key philosophical outlooks of Plato and Aristotle. For Socrates and his students, philosophy was not merely a pastime, or even a career. It was a lifestyle. We will discover if their wisdom stands the test of time and can still offer a compelling way of life today.
