Course Description

Our study tour of South India and Sri Lanka will cover the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, as well as the biggest city of Western India - Mumbai. We will explore the magnificence of rock-cut cave temples, monoliths, forts, and monuments belonging to diverse architectural styles and periods. Special attention will be given to the Hindu and Muslim religions reflecting the history and culture of the region. Also we will discuss the significant role of Christian faith on the Western and Eastern sides of the Indian peninsula. The world class museums will reveal to us their treasures. We will attend a Kathakali performance – the classical highly stylized dance-drama noted for the complicated make-up of the characters, elaborate costumes and detailed gestures. There will be a number of opportunities to relax at the resorts blessed with sunny beaches, golden sands and palm-fringed seashores.
