FIF 157 Defending the Canadian Arctic

Course Description

What was the Yukon Field Force? Why were aviators in the Hudson Straight in the 1920s? What was Operation Muskox? How was the DEW line built? What was the Mulroney policy of Arctic defence? Is there a Russian threat? This course primarily examines the basis of Canada's claim to the Arctic, and the various ways to enforce the claim through military and paramilitary means, such as exercises, patrols, and upgraded technology. Also look at the international role, including the Second World War.
