HUM 122 History of the First World War (Part I: 1914-1916)

Course Description

This course examines the origin, conduct and consequences of the First World War.  The focus of study will include the nature of warfare at the beginning of the 20th century as well as social, economic, technological and political aspects of the Great War.  In addition to examining the events of 1914-16, the cultural and intellectual representation of the war will also be addressed.  Classes include multimedia lectures with rare vintage photographs and combat newsreels from the era.  No textbook required.
