FIF 153 Hot Topics in Archaeology: Recent Discoveries in the Levant

Course Description

Archaeology is often at the centre of controversy, and recent archaeological discoveries in the Levant (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories) continue to hit the target for both academics and the public at large, as witnessed by the book and movie, Da Vinci Code, and the TV program and specials, the Naked Archaeologist. Explore the background, previous accepted views, and historical twists behind these discoveries, such as: the Tomb of Jesus, James' Ossuary, King Herod's Tomb, the first alphabet, the story of Abraham and its relation to Lot's Tomb, and the scoop behind David and Goliath.
