Course Description

This course will focus on the value of Business Intelligence (BI) programs and how their success is defined in an organization. A BI program consists of multiple projects that are planned and defined based on the long term goals of the company. In order to be successful, it is important to avoid the problems that commonly plague BI programs and projects. This course will help students identify common pitfalls and help give students the tools to properly plan a project or program and limit the consequences when problems occur.

Course Details

Business Intelligence projects are notoriously difficult to deliver successfully. The unique problems of vague requirements, poor data quality and changing business priorities make it hard for projects to define when they have succeeded. This course will help you understand the difficulties you will run into on BI projects and how to identify problems before they arise.

To ensure success of your BI initiatives, it is critical to combine multiple, otherwise distinct projects, into a broader program with long term objectives. A Business Intelligence Program ensures that all projects and operational activities undertaken by the department are managed and planned based on these long term goals. In short, program management helps you to realize the full value of your BI department.

This course will instruct students in the methodologies for delivering Business Intelligence and will equip students with the knowledge to overcome common obstacles.
