CPE 151 Real Estate Development Environmental Site Assessment - Phase I




Course Description

This course uses theory and case studies to show you how Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is used to achieve environmental due diligence, and to avoid the pitfalls of insufficient diligence.  As real estate developers, you will be provided with the knowledge and tools required to work, in an informed manner, with professionals who undertake site assessments.  Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is an essential tool for establishing environmental due diligence in property acquisition and management.  It involves the acquisition and interpretation of environmental data through non-invasive methods. Specific topics addressed will be the collection of data to achieve a specific purpose, methods for ensuring data quality, and the importance of a thorough assessment. Phase I information sources, including maps, aerial photographs, historical records, and site inspection, will be reviewed to show how they reveal potential environmental impacts relating to site disturbance, site contamination, and other stressors.
