HUM 119 Paul, the Apostle

Course Description

Paul is one of Christianity's most controversial figures. While Jesus attracts relatively unified interest, many take sides for and against his follower Paul. Some of Paul's detractors see him as a great compromiser of what Jesus lived and taught. Paul's supporters consider him the great transformer of a parochial Jewish message into a universal faith. This course will consider opposing views of Paul as represented by Barrie Wilson, a convert to Judaism from Christianity, as well as Marcus Borg and John Crossan, who consider Paul remarkably faithful to Jesus himself. Join a vigorous, respectful debate and come to your own conclusions!
