HUM 217 Zen and Zen Practice

Course Description

This course will offer students the opportunity to engage in formal Zen practices including zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), chanting and bowing. Each class will include some of these elements, as well as instruction and exploration of their relevance to everyday life. A third component will look at the religious, historical, and philosophical aspects of Zen and Buddhism as context for these practices.
