FIF 148 Modern Jewish History

Course Description

Cover the development of the modern Jewish identity.  How do Jews perceive themselves and their place in the world? How has this view changed since the 19th century, when the entire world was experiencing nationalism as the primary source of one's identity.  Special attention will be paid to issues of anti-semitism, the holocaust and the state of Israel.
