HUM 523 WW. 1 - Legends, Lies, and Myths

Course Description

We will explore the enduring popular myths, legends, and outright lies told about the First World War. How did the war really start and who was to blame? Could the Germans have won in 1914? Did trench warfare dominate the battlefield? Why did the Allies win? How did the Treaty of Versailles come to be? And we haven't even started on the Kaiser, Sir Douglas Haig, Papa Joffre, and Hindenburg and Ludendorff! Come participate in an interesting and thought provoking session as we attempt to separate fact from fiction and delve into the legends, lies, and myths surrounding the World War One.
