Course Description

Presence is the energy that comes from you and connects you to the world. This one-day course introduces the foundational principles of acting for non-drama students to help you build a stronger presence. We discuss:

  • What is presence?
  • How to be present in the moment.
  • Self-judgment and being judgmental.
  • How the body, breath and voice are connected.

Wrap up with a short workshop on using, understanding and "performing" text. Please wear clothing that allows freedom of movement.

Course Details

A safe environment will be created to allow exploration and restoration of the presence we all possess. Practical exercises will follow lectures.

The skills explored will be: connecting to breath and voice, re-connection to the body, understanding self judgment and the ability to take risks and play. These skills will benefit students outside of formal situations and can be layered into their everyday lives.
