TRA 162 Toulouse to Bordeaux, the Southwest of France

Course Description

The southwest of France is filled with historical sites from the Palaeolithic caves of Lascaux and the cliff-clinging village of Rocamadour to the walled fortress of Carcassonne and the sandy Dune de Pyla at Arcachon. We will visit them all on a tour from Toulouse to Bordeaux with time for many sumptuous meals in between.

The southwest is known for its food from the foie gras of Toulouse and the walnuts of Sarlat to cheeses from every village and fine wines from Cahors and Bordeaux, all available in local markets. We'll walk ancient Roman streets; climb medieval parapets and visit museums filled with classical and impressionist art. At either end of the trip we'll settle into two of France's major cities – Toulouse and Bordeaux – for a few days, enjoying the hospitality, history and contemporary life of each city.

Join us, on a two-week visit to France that will be packed with the best of history, art, food and wine.
