FIF 517 Portraits of Explorers

Course Description

Who discovered the headwaters of the Nile? Which Nile? Were the Jungles the only barriers to exploration? What was it like to go down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon? Who sighted Australia? Who was Zheng He? What is the significance of breadfruit, finches and barnacles? This course will look at some of the maritime and terrestrial explorers around the world. The lives will be discussed in the context of their explorations and travels.


There is a 20% reduced fee for students 65 years of age or older at the time of registration. You must register by phone (403-220-2952) or in person to receive this discount.
