HUM 516 Ancient Romans' Daily Life: Customs, Traditions, and Institutions

Course Description

The aim of this course is to deal with every aspect of daily life in ancient Rome, and present the real face of the Eternal City, taking into consideration issues that are not usually investigated by scholastic programs. Topics will include; Roman houses and villas, clothes, shoes and ornaments, the role of women in Roman society, slavery, industry and trade, baths, travel, spectacles, medicine, beliefs, superstitions and magic.


There is a 20% reduced fee for students 65 years of age or older at the time of registration. You must register by phone (403-220-2952) or in person to receive this discount.
