Professional Management Certificate (2009)
Certified Professional Purchaser (2009)
"Continuing Education has made a difference in my life. It has definitely helped me advance in my career," says Vivian Mizera, a U of C employee who over the past ten years has spent many evenings in class pursuing two certification programs simultaneously: Cont Ed's Professional Management Certificate, and the Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP), a designation awarded by the Purchasing Management Association of Canada.
Ten years ago, when a manager encouraged his staff at the U of C to pursue purchasing certification, Vivian enrolled in her first Continuing Education course. Today, Vivian—who began her career at the university as a receptionist—is a senior procurement specialist in U of C's Supply Management Services.
Vivian's investment in her education has resulted in both professional and personal rewards. She knows she has advanced her career more quickly than she could have if she had not been taking courses through Continuing Education, and she has developed a strong professional network as well. "I've also set a good example for my kids by pursuing my education to advance my career, and met a lot of great people along the way."
