"I've learned a lot from John," says Pat McLean of Cont Ed instructor and well-known food critic, John Gilchrist. Pat is a frequent traveller with Continuing Ed's Travel Study Program and a frequent diner in John's Food and Culture courses. "I like his courses. He's fun, he's a character, and on trips, he finds the most amazing food."
In total, Pat's been on seven trips with Continuing Education. Her destinations have included: Paris and Bordeaux; New Mexico; New York and Washington, D.C.; Rome and Sienna; Venice and Croatia; Prague and Budapest; and, Thailand and Cambodia. Next will be Spain and Morocco—another John Gilchrist trip.
Pat has also done trips with John Humphrey. "He's amazing," she says. "He makes everyone feel so warm and welcome."
Like her, many people who travel with U of C choose to come back for subsequent trips, says Pat. "I think it's because we always see such amazing highlights, and they're always so well organized.
"I like that the trips are educational, and I find it a very easy and comfortable way to travel."
