Good Thinking

Jill Nikiforuk

Certificate in Career Development* (2009)

After being a stay-at-home mom for several years, U of C alumna Jill Nikiforuk was looking for a program that would refresh her career development skills, introduce her to others in the field, and help her make a successful return to the workforce.

"Actually, the program far exceeded my expectations," says Jill. "I learned so much. The instructors were excellent and very knowledgeable—all experts in their fields.

"It was a great way to learn what was current in this field and to network with students and instructors," she says. "I certainly got what I was looking for in the program. I thought it would be a good bridge back to the workplace, and it was."

Jill has secured a part-time position in the career counselling field, and is in the early phases of establishing her own career consulting practice, working with a variety of clients. She thinks she may have found her niche—focusing on stay-at-home parents who are preparing to return to the workforce.
