Real Estate Development Certificate (2009)
"I enrolled in my first course because I wanted to look at commercial real estate from a perspective that was different from the bank's view," says Deborah Mooers a senior manager of commercial mortgages with the Royal Bank of Canada, and a recent graduate of Continuing Education's Real Estate Development Certificate program.
"I definitely got what I came for, and then some," says Deborah. "In the real estate courses, the students, the instructors, and the presenters come from all areas of real estate, so I was exposed to many different perspectives."
When Deborah was first introduced to the construction and development field, she knew that she wanted to make real estate her focus. "But I felt the need for some additional education," she says.
Deborah enrolled in her first course three years ago, when she stumbled upon real estate development courses in a Continuing Education publication. She went on to complete a certificate, and plans to come back for additional courses.
"When you have a very specialized focus, as I do, you are an expert in what you do, but you don't necessarily know everything that is useful for you to know," explains Deborah. "And, I think clients appreciate working with someone who has a more rounded background."
"Overall, I found it to be a well-rounded learning experience."
