These Part-Time English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are perfect for adults who want to improve their English for personal, work, or academic reasons with weekend classes. With five levels of English courses available, as well as a pronunciation course, you can aim for the level of fluency that best suits your needs.

How to Apply

New Students

New students are required to complete an internal placement test before registering for Part-Time ESL Courses.

  1. Register for the Part-Time ESL Placement Test.
  2. After the placement test, you will be notified of your results and provided with course registration instructions.

Returning Students

Returning students who have successfully completed the previous ESL course level with B+ or higher within the past year can register for the next level without taking the placement test again.

Placement Test

The Part-Time ESL Placement Test is an online multiple-choice test. It will take approximately 1 – 2 hours to complete the test. Test scores are valid for up to one year.

The online placement test uses Desire2Learn (D2L), an online learning management system. For more information about D2L tests, please visit our Online Learning Resources.

Courses include conversation (speaking and listening), reading, writing, and grammar.
