Continuing Educations and ADVOCIS (www.advocis.ca and www.advociscalgary.ca) have partnered to offer an education program approved by the Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC). Upon completion of the approved education program you qualify to write the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP™) Examination, set and administered by FPSC. All licensing of the designation is through FPSC.
Advocis provides comprehensive and rigorous education training in pursuit of a credential that identifies individuals who are dedicated to a high level of professionalism in providing financial planning advice. The Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC) awards the Certified Financial Planner credential to individuals who have met its educational requirement, passed FPSC's CFP Examination, completed the work experience requirement and agree to the CFP™ Code of Ethics. In addition, upon completion of all five courses, up to 100 transfer credit hours may be applied to a selected Business and Management Certificate Program.
Gaining the CFP® designation is a multi-step process for which completing the first four courses offered at University of Calgary, Continuing Education in collaboration with Advocis® is only the first step. Courses can be completed in any order so students can enrol in any course at any time throughout the academic year. It is recommended, but not required, that students with limited knowledge on how to use a financial calculator take CFP 1 first.
